The bill would address fossil fuel production and other energy projects.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California and other members of the House have been putting together a massive energy package on which they anticipate a vote the last week of March.
The legislation includes boosting fossil-fuel production on federal lands, disapproving the block by the president on the Keystone XL pipeline, and ensuring environmental reviews of mining and energy projects, among many other things.
The House Majority Whip, Tom Emmer from Minnesota, said “Everybody will have a little different perspective. But when you want to attack inflation in this country, it starts with an all-of-the-above energy policy, and I think that will be the more unifying thing.”
Opposition to the bill is expected from the Senate majority, but House members are hopeful that the permitting plank in the legislation would be a starting point for negotiations.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Speaker McCarthy as he and other House leaders attempt to address inflation and energy.
- For members of the Senate as they consider federal energy development policies and the proposed legislation.
- For the president and his energy advisers to have discernment as they weigh the benefits of fossil fuel production against the liabilities.
